3 Suspects in Bombs Planted Amid Dalai Lama Security in Bodhgaya Arrested

With recovery of two live bombs amid the tight security of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Bodhgaya created a serious bomb scare at the holy site but the Bihar state police has arrested three suspects in this connection. According to the source, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are now interrogating the three suspects.

Following the outbreak of bomb scare at the holy site late last Friday, the NIA team from New Delhi also arrived to the site to probe into the matter while the state police revamped the security arranged for the Buddhist spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is on a month long stay there, conferring religious teachings to thousands of devotees gathered from around world.

“Bihar Police has detained three suspected persons in connection with a bomb blast and recovery of live bombs near Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya. Police said, security agencies are interrogating them. National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the blast and recovery of three high-intensity devices (IEDs) in three metallic containers.” said the report in Asia News Service on Sunday.

Though no actual damage and casualty could happen after the police recovered the live bombs before its explosion, the security agencies have taken the issue very seriously owing to the fact that several high profile people led by the Tibetan spiritual leader and Governor of Bihar state and thousands of people from different countries were present at the site.

The police are investigating possible China connection in the Bomb scare too. Though the police believes the bombs were not targeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama, they believes that it was aimed at creating a public panic at the site. Ladakh Buddhist Association and All Ladakh Gonpa Association also called for a complete peaceful bandh in Leh and other parts of Ladakh on Sunday to condemn the violent act in Bodh Gaya.
