Over more than 40 girls from a shelter home in the state of Bihar in India run by an NGO is allegedly raped and in that precedence the cops are now digging the premises of the place looking for the body of a victim who is alleged to have been buried there. The Bihar police following court order are conducting medical examination of the girls from the shelter home.
“A team of policemen in Bihar has dug up the grounds at a government shelter home where over 40 young girls were allegedly raped, to investigate the allegation that one girl was beaten to death and buried there.” said the report in the NDTV on Tuesday adding, “Out of the 21 reports of medical examination that have been submitted, rape of 16 girls have been confirmed by doctors, while reports are still not out on the rest of the girls who lived in the horror house in Muzaffarpur.”
One of the victims from the shelter has told police that a girl had been killed upon disagreement with the staff and the body has been buried in the premises of the shelter.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences in its audit report based on conversations with several girls, claimed that a total of 42 girl inmates of the Muzaffarpur Balika Grih were sexually assaulted, beaten up or drugged before being sexually abused. This report exposed the horrifying crime being carried out upon young girls in the shelter and the Bihar Social Welfare Department filed a police complaint based on the report.
While the police are still conducting medical examinations of all the girls and a special investigation team (SIT) is investigating the issue, at least 10 accused criminals have been arrested till now.
“The total number of people arrested in the case has now reached 10. We are on the lookout for people absconding,” said senior police officer in Muzaffarpur, Harpreet Kaur. Such horrific reports of sexual assaults against women in India continues to come up every day from every corner of the country. Despite politicians and administrative authorities proposing extravagant plans to curb such crimes, women in the country are never safe from such crimes every day!
