Dalai Lama To Attend Peace Conference In Manipur

His Holiness the Dalai Lama to attend an International Peace Conference in Manipur capital Imphal according to a report in the Economic Times. Manipur Assembly Speaker had visited the temporary abode of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh to invite him to the International Peace Conference in Imphal to which His Holiness has accepted.

“Manipur Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand has invited Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama to International Peace Conference in Imphal. ” said the report in Economic Times. Khemchand went to Dharmashala to attend a conference on ‘Tribals of India and social issues’ at Himachal Pradesh University and he had met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the beginning of this month.

“Dalai has consented to visit the conference. The conference aims to bring peace in the North eastern states.” added the report where Khemchand also informed that the itinerary will be finalized soon in accordance with His Holiness’s availability.

The prime objective of the International Peace Conference is to bring peace in the north-eastern states. With relevance to this news, His Holiness the Dalai Lama had made a 12 day visit to the stretches of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and blessed the largely Buddhist populated state of India in April this year.
