Dalai Lama Donates 1.25 Crore Rupees To Help Underprivileged Children

His Holiness the Dalai Lama donates 1.25 crore rupees to help underprivileged children today. His Holiness made a monetary donation of the amount to the Smile Foundation to help fund education of underprivileged children in India in New Delhi today during ‘the World of Children’ event organised by the foundation.

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama today donated 1.25 core rupees to Smile foundation to help fund education of underprivileged children in India. This donation will be given in five instalment of 25 lakh rupees per annum for five years.” said the report in the official website of Central Tibetan Administration.

While speaking at the interactive session, His Holiness said that even though he can not have his own children owing to the fact that he is a monk, he told he really love children.

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama made the donation while delivering a talk on Universal responsibility and compassion to over a thousand children at the NCUI auditorium in Hauz Khas, New Delhi. The interaction was organised by the Smile foundation, an NGO that looks after the education, welfare and healthcare needs of less privileged children in India.” added the report.

The Dalai Lama spoke on the importance of providing education to the children and also called on to stop discrimination based on caste system. His Holiness also advised to make use of the ancient Indian philosophy taught in the Nalanda tradition to deal with the problems faced in life through the practise training of the mind through logic and reasoning.

“Education is key to create an egalitarian world. All human beings on this earth whether rich or poor, tall or short, dark or fair, have equal potential to achieve greatness through education. Therefore, we should focus on education of children,” His Holiness said.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to His Holiness and said that just spending a little moment with the Dalai Lama makes them feel happier and more humble.
