When I was younger almost everyone thought of Taiwan unified with China. Textbooks were Chinese-centric and didn’t teach Taiwanese history or geography. I still know all the details from Tibet and Mongolia and they’re not even part of China!
Young people in Taiwan have learned more about their history from the Internet than through government books. When I was younger a lot of books were banned so you couldn’t’ even get information in bookshops.

Police Proposed to Double Up The Dalai Lama Palace Security

The new proposal says to install high-resolution 360 degrees cameras, baggage scanners and sophisticated sabotage-check equipment at the entrance of the Dalai Lama’s palace. “We have proposed a full-fledged battalion for his security against the existing strength of 50 Himachal Police personnel,” said a senior police functionary. If the proposal is implemented, 100 police personnel will guard him round the clock that is the double of the existing security.

First Underwater Tunnel for India in River Krishna

West Bengal State government announced to frame Tibetan Refugee Rehabilitation policy by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 1 September last year. Though the policy has yet to be framed, the state government had decided to include the Tibetans in the list of beneficiaries of MNREGA, NRHM, PDS, and extension of loan facilities by the nationalised banks.
