Former Arunachal CM Found Hanging From Ceiling Fan

Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday according to the police and he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom at the official CM residential Bungalow of the state in Itanagar.

Mr. Pul was unseated by the order of Supreme Court about a month ago and the CM post was occupied by his rival Nabam Tuki who was later replaced by the incumbent CM Mr. Pema Khandu.

“There were reports of a suicide note being found but the police refused to confirm this. State police chief S. Nithyanandam only said that all documents had been seized from the room where the incident occurred. ” reported the Hindustan Times.

“As news of his death spread across Itanagar, hundreds of Mr. Pul’s supporters gathered outside his residence and staged a protest, blaming Congress legislators for their “betrayal” of the former chief minister. While some demanded Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s resignation, others set fire to a coffin that was brought for Mr. Pul’s body, claiming it was “not worthy of a popular CM like Pul.” added the report.

Mr. Pema Khandu requested the public to remain calm and mourn the loss with prayers. He informed that a magisterial probe of the incident has been ordered. He also told that the allegations of him asking the former CM to vacate the bungalow were not true and he said that he had the former CM known that he can stay at the bungalow for as long as he wanted.

The congress party’s allegation is that Mr. Kalikho Pul had become a “victim of the BJP’s vicious politics” since he had rebelled against the party in December 2015.

The state government assured that they will take every step necessary to find the truth about the incident.
