Young Tibetan ‘PAWO’ Actor Nominated For Best Actor Award

Young Tibetan ‘PAWO’ actor, Shavo Dorjee who played the lead role in the movie has been nominated for the Best Male Actor award at the Queens World Film Festival in New York. PAWO is the winner of Best Feature Film at Mediterranian International Film Festival Cannes as well as the winner of Best Feature Film at Top Indie Film Festival. Apart from these, the movie has already won many awards and nominated for many more.

“Our wonderful main actor Shavo Dorjee got his first nomination as BEST MALE ACTOR at this years Queens World Film Festival in New York !!!” said the official Facebook page of the movie.

Along with the actor Shavo Dorjee, DoP/VFX, Amin Qussar is nominated for the Best Cinematography Award while the Directors Marvin Litwak and Sonam Tseten are nominated for the Best Feature Film Award as well.

With a rating of 9 out of 10 on the IMDb, the movie summary says; “Since 1950, Tibet has been occupied by China. Dorjee, a young Tibetan, grew up in peace 40 years later. After the death of his father, it all comes to a point, where he realizes that his wings are already cut, what it means to be Tibetan in a country which is called “China”. Inside Tibet and in exile, a last cry for freedom starts. ” according to the IMDb.

Released in 2016, the movie is loosely based on Tibetan Martyr, Jamphel Yeshi who self immolated himself to death in New Delhi in protest against the continued repression by China in Tibet on March 26, 2012.

The official social media page of the movie announced the news and it also informed that the film will be screened in New York on the 16th of March this year.
