China Should Not Interfere India’s Internal Matters: Rijiju

China should not interfere India’s internal matters said the Union Minister, Kiren Rijiju rejecting that India should cancel the Dalai Lama’s visit to the North East India. The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is presently in Assam from where he will be heading to Arunachal Pradesh, a part of which China claims as it territory.

“We are not interfering in the internal matters of China and that country should not interfere into ours’,” the Minister of State for Home Affairs told reporters. Kiren Rijiju responded this to the two serious warnings issued by the Chinese government against India for allowing the Dalai Lama to visit the disputed regions of India. He also said that the visit has become possible only due to the people’s wish.

While His Holiness in response to a¬†question seeking his opinion about China’s resolute opposition against his visit to the region, he recently said, “”No problem. It’s normal,” shunning away all the seriousness China has been exhorting especially for this particular visit by His Holiness.

However, Chinese exerting pressure against all the hosts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a very usual practice from the communist country. China tagging the Dalai Lama as separatist of the Main Land China, they have been pressurising every one who hosted the Dalai Lama irrespective of whether the event was political or apolitical. But this visit to a strategically important region for China has been not all well received.

India too pushed all its limits to make Dalai Lama’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, starting from April 4, possible despite continuous warnings from China. The Indian government has rejected the demands from Beijing in cancelling the visit. India clarified that the visit was a religious event and it had nothing to do with politics.
