Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the right Indian right wing has launched a campaign seeking Bharat Ratna for the Dalai Lama of Tibet. The campaign asking the Indian government to confer the Bharat Ratna award for the Dalai Lama has been going on for some time now and this time the RSS, the backbone of BJP, the ruling party of India, has launched the campaign too.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama who has been living in India for the last many decades has been describing himself as a son of India both physically and mentally. His Holiness keeps saying that his body has been surviving on Indian dal, rice and chapati (bread), while his mind is filled with the philosophy of Nalanda tradition.
“The Rashtriya Syawamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched a campaign for awarding Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour, to Nobel Laureate and Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.” said the report in the Hindustan Times.
There has been an online campaign going on the social media for the last many months which has gained a huge momentum with a very important organisation of India, the RSS launching their campaign seeking the Bharat Ratna award for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
“We have so far collected some 5,000 signatures. We will submit our plea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after getting 25,000 signatures,” district RSS leader Lhundup Chosang who leading the campaign described about its momentum. The campaign was launched on April 6, 2017 a day before the Dalai Lama’s arrival to Tawang.
The Dalai Lama has also been preaching the unique diverse culture of India which he describes as an example for the whole world to look at. His Holiness’ second life commitment is the promotion of religious harmony and understanding among the world’s major religious traditions and he has always been referring India as a perfect example that every religious community can survive together in peace.
