Che Dalha Re-Elected to Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region

Ethnic Tibetan politician Che Dalha has been re-elected to the Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region in China’s occupied Tibet according to the Chinese state mouth piece, Xinhua network on Tuesday. In addition to this, Lobsang Gyaltsen was also re-elected as the director of the Standing Committee of Regional People’s Congress.

“Qizhala (Che Dalha) was re-elected chairman of Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, and Losang Jamcan was re-elected director of the Standing Committee of Regional People’s Congress on Tuesday.” said the report in the Xinhua network.

The two Tibetan politicians were elected to their respective positions during the 10th Tibet Autonomous Regional People’s Congress in January 2017 and now they have been re-elected at the first session of the 11th Tibet Autonomous Regional People’s Congress on Tuesday according to the report.

Che Dalha had earlier served as the Communist Party Secretary for region of Tibetan capital Lhasa. The Chairman is the nominal leader of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), a province-level administrative division of the People’s Republic of China. Despite constitutional guarantee from Chinese government of autonomy to this provincial region as Tibet, which many scholars and experts do not accept, the regional leaders have usually proved as a puppet of Beijing, speaking and working instead of them.
