Dharamsala’s Tibetan Hotels Served Notices after Shutting Indian Hotels

The Tibetan monasteries, organizations and individual owners of around two dozens of hotels in Dharamsala has been served notices by the Commissioner of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation (DMC). This notice comes after local Indians who faced electricity and water disconnection of their hotels and guest houses filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on status of the Tibetan hotels.

29 More Hotels in McLeod Ganj Lose Power Connections

Following the meeting of Dharamsala Municipal Corporation, the local administrative body has issued an order for the disconnection of power supply for 29 more hotels in McLeod Ganj on Wednesday. This order to snap the power supply for hotels and restaurants around Dharamsala now added up to a total of 157 such enterprises.

The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) enforced a raid on hotels in Mcleodganj on Friday after hints of many hotels using the government power supply illegally. There were around 140 hotels in the locality whose power supply had been cut following orders of the High Court however the board found that most them were still functioning.

The Dharamsala hoteliers who are in visible duress due to the High Court decision decreeing illegal hotels to be sealed, are now pinning their hope on the new government. The Tribune recently reported that a delegation of hotel association met Minister for Town and Country Planning Sarween Chaudhary and Chief Jai Ram Thakur and submitted a memorandum of their demands.

55 Hotels In Dharamshala Declared Illegal Told To Shutdown By Court

55 Dharamshala hotels have been declared as illegal and now ordered to be shut down according to a court order on Monday. The Pollution Control Board regional officer has carried out the inspection of the hotels and other establishments in Dharamsala, McLeodganj and Naddi as per the direction from High Court in response to a PIL.
