This Street has Our Name

Few years ago, when I was driving up the hills of Ithaca towards Cornell university, I stumbled upon a street name out of the blue called the Tibet Road. A quiet corner of a single lane road it was, surrounded by the usual quietness of the nature and probably punctuated by the frequent crossing of deer. But to see a road, any road regardless being named after my lost country Tibet was heartwarming to say the least.

New York Names Street to New Tibetan Community Center as Tibet Way

As the Tibetan community of New York and New Jersey gathered on Sunday to inaugurate the Tibetan Community Center, the local authorities of the Queens provided their support to the Tibetans by naming the street to the community center as ‘Tibet Way’. During the inauguration of the Tibetan Community Center, the ‘Tibet Way’ name to the street was too inaugurated.
