Padma Shri Dr. Yeshi Dhonden Retires from Practice at the Age of 92

The Padma Shri award recipient from government of India and a former personal physician to Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Yeshi Dhonden has now retired from seeing patients at the age of 92. In a circular notice published from Dr. Dhonden’s clinic, he will no longer be seeing patients due to old age.

The veteran Tibetan healer who is a monk too was announced as one of the exceptional persons to be honoured with India’s civilian honour, the Padma Shri on the eve of 69th Republic Day of India. Dr. Yeshi Dhonden expressed his happiness and thanked the government of India for such an honour and told that all of Tibet is celebrating the honour.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s ex physician, Venerable Dr. Yeshi Dhonden now becomes the second Tibetan to honoured with India’s prestigious Padma Shri awards after his name was announce on the eve of 69th Republic day of India. The Tibetan monk healer is now the second Tibetan after Geshe Ngawang Samten to be honoured with India’s fourth highest civilian award.
