Tibetan winter business traders who deals with warm clothing had just set up the structures but the local shopkeepers at vegetable market in Bahadurgarh, Haryana attacked and removed them. The local shopkeepers in Bahadurgarh revolted against the Tibetans setting up their temporary shops in the locality and eventually attacked the Tibetans who were mostly women and their shop structures.
“Local shopkeepers today removed makeshift structures installed by Tibetan traders at the local vegetable market in Bahadurgarh. The Tibetan market had been set up ahead of Diwali after permission from the district marketing committee.” said the report in The Tribune.
The Tibetan market has been going on for the last many years there and they have been granted permission by the respective authorities. The local shopkeepers complaint of affecting their business with the arrival of Tibetan traders.
The police were informed of the incident and Vishnu Prasad, City Police incharge reached the spot. He arrested 6 of the local shopkeepers involved in the attacked and charged them under Sections 148, 149, 323 and 506 of the IPC. The police said that they will further investigate into the matter and arrested all others involved the attack by looking through the surveillance cameras.
Most of the Tibetan refugees in India survive on their winter business done at various locations such as the Bahadurgarh in the country. Their business during last for a maximum of four months. They set up their shops or stalls around the time of Diwali and wrap up in the month of February, just before the Tibetan New Year.
