Yami Gautam Chosen Dharamshala’s Ambassador, Why Not Dalai Lama?

The government of Himachal Pradesh is facing a scathing attack over the decision to make actress Yami Gautam as the brand ambassador the Investors Meet to be held in Dharamshala and not the biggest brand of the state, His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A former congress leader has raised the question with the government through a written application.

“Former Congress leader and chairman of ex-servicemen league of Himachal, Vijai Singh Mankotia said the Dalai Lama was the biggest brand in the state and it was unfortunate that the government was not associating him with the meet.” reported the Tribune on Thursday.

Dharamsala was known internationally by the name of the Dalai Lama. The government would have been able to attract more investors in case the Dalai Lama was associated with the Meet in some way, Mankotia is reported as quoting in the report.  The former congress leader has earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer the International Gandhi Peace prize upon His Holiness the Dalai Lama before his visit to the event.

The biggest ever investors meet in the state scheduled for next week roped in Bollywood actress who was born in the state of Himachal Pradesh. According to the Minister for Industries, Bikram Thakur, nobody should have any problem at her being made the brand ambassador. The meet will see a large number of international investors where PM Narendra Modi will also take part.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been based in Himachal town of Dharamshala over the last sixty years. With his presence, the state has been known across the world. Besides hosts of devotees and countless followers, many important people from different countries regularly visits the state to have audience with the spiritual leader.

There should be definitely no problem introducing yami Gautam, the fair and lovely beauty product face as the ambassador for Dharamshala. But it’s. Just a question that how many people around the country, India itself knows Yami Gautam ? Very minimal… I doubt the southern part of India even know her existence. Dalai Lama is a face known just not known in India but a high profile figure around the globe. I am just wondering the decision maker lacks decision making skills as I no where see any brand power of Yama Gautam compared with Dalai Lama who can bring tremendous turnover to the state via tourism. Just a thought! Nothing offensive.

I think this is not even a topic that need discussion. If they choose yami Gautam then that’s it. As a tibetan living in India as refugees, we got no right to say something like this.
If an Indian person ask something like this then they can.
So, I think tibetanjournal should stop writing such nonsense question. We Tibetans got other more important things to discuss.
