Dalai Lama Voted to Top 10 Most Admired by Americans

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama based in exile Northern town of India, Dharamshala has been voted to the top 10 most admired persons in the world by the Americans. The poll for the most admired persons by Americans was published on Thursday by the Gallup News.

According to an open ended question asked in the Gallup’s annual survey, conducted Dec. 3-12 this year, asking to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world today whom they admire most, the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama was voted 8th most admired man.

While the former US president Barack Obama was voted as the most admired man for the 11th consecutive day, the former first lady, Michelle Obama ended Hillary Clinton’s 17 year run as the most admired woman!

The runners up to the top 10 most admired men this year was voted to the incumbent president, Donald Trump and the remainder of the list was followed by the former President George W. Bush, Pope Francis, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, former President Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, former Vice President Joe Biden, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Vice President Mike Pence.

Also among the top 10 most admired women this year includes Queen Elizabeth, , German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, human rights activist Malala Yousafzai and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.
