The Emirates flight EK521 flying from Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai on 3rd August, 2016 has faced ‘operation incident’ that had to crash land the air craft which was a Boeing 777 at the Dubai airport. The important part of this seemingly accidental incident is that all the people on the plane have been evacuated without injuries.

In an announcement on the official website of the airline, it reported “Emirates can confirm that today, 3 August 2016, flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an operational incident upon landing at Dubai International Airport. Out of the total passengers, 226 on board were Indians. All operations of departure from the airport has been cancelled till further notice.

The Boeing 777 aircraft, departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport said the report.

“We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew.” informed on their website and the detailed information about the incident is will be shared on their websites after they overcome the 8-hour network delay.

The expected cause of the incident is supposed to be a main landing gear failure on landing causing fire and total hull loss.

“The slides came out but they were blowing all over the place. People managed to escape – from what I saw – before there was a big explosion, with flames everywhere. We had taxied and stopped right next to where it was happening and people in my plane were just saying ‘oh my god’ and ‘get us off this plane’,” a passenger has told BBC.

This is a good sign of its evacuation measures and preparedness towards emergencies that every airline should look at.
