New York Names Street to New Tibetan Community Center as Tibet Way

As the Tibetan community of New York and New Jersey gathered on Sunday to inaugurate the Tibetan Community Center, the local authorities of the Queens provided their support to the Tibetans by naming the street to the community center as ‘Tibet Way’. During the inauguration of the Tibetan Community Center, the ‘Tibet Way’ name to the street was too inaugurated.

President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay along with Sakya Gongma Rinpoche presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Tibetan community center. Council Member of the 26th District, Jimmy Van Bramer announced during the ceremony that the local office has approved to name the 32nd Ave. street as Tibet way.

While Dr. Lobsang Sangay and Sakya Gongma Rinpoche jointly inaugurated the new street name in honour of Tibet, the council member told that the Tibetans representatives have worked really hard to obtain the approval for the naming of the street.

Tibetan president said during the ceremony that the successful completion of the Tibetan community center demonstrates the potential of Tibetan community when working with unity. This oneness, he said has be stressed upon by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as early as in 1959. He urged the Tibetans to shoulder responsibilities towards the cause in unity and harmony while preserving our identity.
