San Diego Mayor Welcomes Dalai Lama

San Diego mayor welcomes Dalai Lama as he arrived in the city after two days stop at Mayo clinic in Rochester city. Mayor Kevin Faulconer greeted the Tibetan spiritual leader as he landed in the city at the Lindbergh field on Thursday morning. The mayor will also introduce the Dalai Lama at the public talk in San Diego on Friday.

“Faulconer greeted the spiritual leader of Tibet’s Buddhists as he arrived on the tarmac of Lindbergh Field. The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, will speak at a sold-out public graduation event at UC San Diego.” said the report in the NBC San Diego.

“As a City that celebrates its diversity, spirit of collaboration and environmental leadership, we are proud to welcome one of the world’s great champions for peace and understanding to San Diego,” Faulconer said, in a statement.

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama is an inspiration to people across the globe and we are honored to have him return to our city,” Faulconer added.

This is the first stop of His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his current US tour. During his four day stop in San Diego, he will be delivering a public speech at the UC San Diego’s RIMAC Field on ‘Embracing the Beauty of Diversity in our World.’ on Friday and on Saturday morning, he will deliver the keynote speech at the All Campus Commencement of University of California San Diego.

“We are honored to host His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at UC San Diego and thankful that he will share messages of global compassion with our graduates and their families, as well as with a broad public audience,” said Chancellor of UCSD, Pradeep K. Khosla, in a statement.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is recognized around the world as one of the most inspiring leaders in the world for his efforts to bring out peace, China accuses him of being a separatist. His Holiness was felicitated with Noble Peace Prize in 1989 which is the most prestigious recognition given for his works from numerous awards he has been honored with around the world.
