Following two days of incessant rainfall in various parts of India especially in the state of Himachal Pradesh, the rainfall led to the rise of the water flow resulting to flooding into human settlements. The continued rain fall in Kullu and Manali resulted in a flash flood in the region which has also affected the Tibetan settlements there.
The water level in Beas River has been increasing due to incessant rains in the catchment areas. Himachal Pradesh received moderate-to-heavy rainfall since Saturday, with Naina Devi town in Bilaspur district being the wettest with 178.2 mm of rainfall. Several houses in Kullu town were swept away in flashfloods as the Beas is flowing above the danger mark.
While videos of the flash flood destroying connecting roads to the region were captured, the flooding waters carrying away buses, trucks and other vehicles are going viral on the social media. The flooding waters reached up to houses of the Tibetan people in the settlement and the school area. However, according to a social media page of the Tibetan people in Kullu-Manali, all Tibetans have been rescued from Palrabling, Pobhi, Kullu-Manali.
The Himachal Pradesh government ordered all government and private schools remained closed in Kinnaur, Kullu and Kangra districts for Monday and Tuesday according to the report in NDTV. Eight people died and hundreds, including school students, remained stranded across the state after incessant rainfall for the third consecutive day, triggering landslides and snapping over 200 road links, officials said.
