Tibetan Held for 87 Years Old Grandfather’s Murder in Mumbai

A Tibetan man has been arrested by the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar (MRA) police in Mumbai on Friday after it was found that he plotted the murder of his grandfather, whose body was found in the building where the deceased lived. The police have reportedly solved the murder case within 48 hours and the culprits associates in the murder have also been arrested.

The deceased identified as Aja Tenzing Lama, 87 years old, a native of Tibet is said to have moved to Mumbai decades ago from Darjeeling and he is said to be living along in Sant Niwas at Goa street in South Mumbai. The police found his body lying in blood near the staircase of the building on Tuesday.

“We found a man in his 70s lying in a pool of blood near the staircase. He was taken to St. George Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.” said an anonymous police official according to reports.

The elderly man who owns several flats and business stalls in Mumbai was murdered by his grandson, Dorje Tenzing Lama vying for his property according to the police.

Dorje upon being investigated after CCTV footage showed four persons going towards Lama’s building a local person who works there identified that Dorje had once come with one of the four, to meet Lama, he confessed the crime. The accused will now be produced in the court.

“He confessed that he got his four associates – Utkarsh alias Krushna Mahendra Soni, 19, Arjel Daniel Bhise, 22, Jayesh alias Fandry Kanojiya, 19, and Anand Dilip Rai, 21 – to kill his grandfather. All have criminal records. Dorji promised them Rs 1.5 lakh each. He expected to inherit the property his grandfather owned as he is the only legal heir,” said another police officer.
