US School Students Continue Tibetan Student Sponsorship

A US School’s students senate has unanimously voted to continue their support in the Tibetan student sponsorship project according to a report in the local news source. During a general session of the students senate at the beginning of this month, the students approved continuation of the sponsorship of a 13 year old Tibetan student in India.

“At its Third General Session, the Black River Falls High School Student Senate unanimously approved continuing sponsorship of a 13-year-old Tibetan student at the Tibetan Children’s Village in northern India.” said the report in the Jackson County Chronicle.

“We’re pleased that the BRFHS Student Senate continues this sponsorship and are interested in how you use the cross-cultural and comparative history aspects of indigenous people to help your students understand the story of people who are uprooted from their homelands.” said the Sponsorship director Kathleen Nolan of Tibet Aid through which the school senate support Tibetan students.

This is the 10th year of the school’s student union extending their support to the Tibetan students through Tibet Aid since they first provided sponsorship in 2008 under the leadership of President Rachel Colloton who years ago solicited funds from the Tiger Investment Club to make sponsorship a joint venture between the two organizations according to the report.

“We are pleased to continue with this program and feel that it is a positive use of our funds,” said student union President Nolan Plaisance after the approval from the general session.

The TIBET AID is a non-profit charitable organization based in New York dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to Tibetans in Tibet and in exile. It aims at keeping the Tibetan religion and culture remain alive and flourish.
