The spiritual leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan has been convicted by a special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of Panchkula in a 15-year-old sexual assault charges against two female disciples. The punishment for the charges will be announced on Monday (August 28).
Despite the deployment of curfew and a large number of police and paramilitary forces in parts of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana violence erupted in parts and pockets these two states where ten people are reportedly killed and several vehicles set on fire in Panchkula, a suburb of Chandigarh.
The last time these kinds of violence were seen during Jat reservation agitation in February 2016 where People traveling to Delhi or from Delhi had to face tremendous hardship.
