China Blocks Dalai Lama’s Newly Launched iPhone App

Coping up with the increasing demand of the followers in this digital age, the Dalai Lama’s office launched an iPhone app of the religious leader with which the devotees and the followers can stay up to date with their icon, however, the bad news is that the iOS app is not available for those in China.

“The Office of His Holiniess [sic] the Dalai Lama has released ‘Dalai Lama’, a new iPhone App now available for download at the Apple App Store…With Dalai Lama stay up to date with what His Holiness is doing, his travels, and his teachings,” announced His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s social media accounts in Tuesday sharing a screenshot of the app.

The app is aimed at keeping the followers tay up to date with what His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It said that with the Dalai Lama app stay up to date with what His Holiness is doing, his travels, and his teachings. Get official news, videos, and photos from His Holiness’s Office, including live video streams when they are available.

However, the app store belonging to China not show the app, meaning that it has been blocked in the country just like many others as a part of the increasing censorship policies from the authorities. China is especially very sensitive with the Dalai Lama and Tibet, therefore this would not be a surprise to many but it is another example of how China controls their people.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who is now 82 years old fled from Tibet at the age of 23 following Chinese invasion and till now he has been in exile. However, due to his non-violent approach and teachings of love, compassion and peace, the Dalai Lama is one of the most well known leaders of the world today.

The Dalai Lama is being followed by more than 16.6 million people on Twitter while he has more than 13.8 million followers Facebook and the app in the App Store has received five star rating from all the 42 raters already!
