His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has earned his first-ever Grammy nomination at the age of 90, marking a historic moment for Tibetans worldwide. The spoken-word album, Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has been nominated in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026.
This nomination not only celebrates a remarkable artistic collaboration but also amplifies the global resonance of His Holiness’ lifelong message of compassion, peace, and shared humanity.
A Collaboration Rooted in Shared Values
The album was created in partnership with renowned sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, blending His Holiness’ spoken reflections with Indian classical compositions. The project draws on the Dalai Lama’s teachings from various public talks, focusing on universal values such as compassion, inner peace, kindness, environmental responsibility, and the oneness of humanity.
An official from the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama said the producers “used His Holiness’ key messages taken from various talks given by him on compassion, peace, sense of oneness of humanity, and the environment.”
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan expressed deep gratitude on social media:
“As a family, we would like to congratulate His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his Grammy nomination. Our album is close to our hearts. It brings together the spoken wisdom of His Holiness with original music that invites reflection, stillness, and compassion.”
He added that working with the Dalai Lama had been “a profound privilege” and thanked the global artists who contributed to the project.

Produced in collaboration with Glassnote Records, the album features the Dalai Lama’s meditative reflections interwoven with Indian classical music and contributions from artists across diverse traditions.
