Chinese Spy Tried to Buy Tibetans to Support Their Choice of Dalai Lama Successor

The Chinese spy nabbed by the IT Department of India on charges of running hawala racket has reportedly spilled important revelations. According to breaking reports, the agent functioning at the behest of the Chinese government was bribing monks in India to buy their support for its choice of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s successor.

Following the arrest of a 42 year old Chinese national, Charlie Peng, in New Delhi who was trained and funded by China to try to break into the inner circle of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, concerns over the spiritual leader’s security have been raised. A more serious revelation from the interrogation says that the agent was buying support for China’s choice of His Holiness’s successor according to the report by News18.

“In a fresh twist to the Chinese hawala racket probe, Indian intelligence agencies have found that main accused Charlie Peng was bribing Tibetan monks to buy their future support for a Chinese candidate to succeed Dalai Lama.” said the breaking report by News18 on Saturday.

Report added that their sources have learned from government officials that close to 100 monks could have been paid lakhs of rupees in cash and bank transfers in the last two years. At least two monasteries in south India and the Majnu ka Tila Tibetan settlement is under the scanner of the agencies.

Himachal Pradesh State director general of police Sanjay Kundu has informed that the security of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been put on high alert. The police is investigating links to the state with the Chinese agent and all necessary measures for the spiritual leader’s security has been taken.

“The police are probing the links of the recently arrested Chinese man in Delhi with Himachal. Though the Dalai Lama has avoided moving out of his residence amid the Covid-19 pandemic, we have put his security on high alert and all necessary measures have been taken,” the DGP said to the Tribune.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has slammed Chinese interests in his successor. He told that his successor will never come from Chinese controlled regions rather come from a free country. His Holiness has even clarified that in case you see two Dalai Lamas in the future; one from free country and one appointed by China, no body would trust the latter.

The Chinese national was arrested with two fake Aadhar cards, two forged Indian passports and a fake pan card. A case of impersonation and Passport Act was filed against him but a year back, he got bail and set up new set of shell companies. IT searches show that Chinese nationals including Lou Sang were operating 40 bank accounts of laundered Rs 1000 crores.
