Dalai Lama Congratulates Jacinda Ardern on Reelection as New Zealand PM

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama extended his congratulations to Jacinda Ardern on re-election victory as New Zealand PM. Mrs. Ardern has secured a second term as the leader of the country in a historic election victory. Her handling of the COVID-19 crisis and quick action of the Christchurch shootings in 2019 won much accolades.

According to the report by Official website of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Sunday reported that immediately on receiving news of her party’s resounding victory in the New Zealand general election, His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to offer her his congratulations.

“I admire the courage, wisdom and leadership you have shown in these challenging times,” he wrote. “I particularly applaud the way you have responded with calm, compassion and respect for others in the face of tragedy.

“During my several visits to your beautiful country over the years I have been deeply touched by the openness and warmth of people from all walks of life. I have been encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest they have shown in my efforts to promote a sense of oneness of humanity and the need for inter-religious harmony.” His Holiness added.

His Holiness concluded by wishing Ms Ardern every success in meeting whatever challenges may lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of New Zealand.

Arden’s Labour party won the highest percentage of the vote in more than five decades, claiming 64 seats in parliament. Since her first term, Ardern has emerged as one of the great leaders the world has produced. Her clear direct and empathic communication style got the country to contain the pandemic. Most of all, she is an inspiration to millions of women in the world.
