Dalai Lama says he admires Narendra Modi’s works while speaking to the press at Tawang, where His Holiness first got his freedom. The Dalai Lama has arrived in Tawang yesterday despite China’s repeated and desperate attempts to force the Indian government to stop him from visiting the place.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama replied when asked about the NDA-led BJP Indian government’s policy on China that it is similar to the Congress from the days of Narasimha Rao but he said that he admires the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. He explained that Modi is active and wishes development.
“It is more or less the same as that of the Congress from the days of Narasimha Rao… but I admire Modi, he is active and seeks development.” said the Tibetan spiritual leader according to the reports.
The Dalai Lama’s present visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh states of India has been strongly politicised by Chinese criticism. The Chinese government’s repeat opposition against the Indian government was not complied by the later and the former warned that the event has destroyed the sound relationship between the two countries.
The Tibetan prime minister in exile Dr. Lobsang Sangay also spoke recently in a Indian national news television channel that the Modi government’s approach about the Tibet issue with China turned from closed doors to that of open doors. In never seen before reactions from Indian government representatives, the Arunachal chief minister boldly said that India shares border with Tibet and not that of China!
Though the Dalai Lama’s visit to the Arunachal Pradesh was meant to be purely spiritual or religious one, it made headlines across the world bringing out an unprecedented limelight upon the Tibet issue across the world. His Holiness the Dalia Lama presently at the climax of his tour to this part of India will be wrapping up the tour by Monday.
