Dalai Lama Sends Prayers for Japanese PM Retiring on Poor Health

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has sent his prayers for Japanese PM retiring on poor health. The office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama reported that the spiritual leader has written to Mr. Shinzo Abe expressing his concern over the latter’s declining health condition. He has made his prayers for a successful treatment upon the Japanese leader.

While sharing his sympathy and prayers with the retiring Japanese PM, His Holiness the Dalai Lama applauds the leader’s decision to step down for the greater good of the country. The following is the complete report as published in the official website of the spiritual leader;

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama has written to Mr Shinzo Abe to express concern about his declining health.

“I pray that your treatment will be successful,” he wrote, adding, “It is admirable that you have considered the greater good of the country and decided to step down from the position of Prime Minister in order to receive medical attention.

“I have great respect for your leadership and dedication to the service of others.”

His Holiness concluded that as the longest-serving Prime Minister of Japan, Mr Abe has contributed to making the nation respected the world over.”

Japanese PM Abe announced on Friday he was resigning because of poor health, his long-running battle with ulcerative colitis ending his tenure as Japan’s longest-serving prime minister. The 65 years old has been serving as the Prime Minister of Japan and President of the Liberal Democratic Party since 2012. He had previously served as Chief Cabinet Secretary from 2005 to 2006, and as Prime Minister from 2006 to 2007 and this the longest-serving Prime Minister in Japanese history.
