Dalai Lama to Spend 3 Weeks in Bodhgaya from December 16

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to spend a period of three weeks in the holy place of Bodhgaya from December 16 later this year according to sources. Gaya district officials are preparing for the sojourn of the Buddhist spiritual with adequate security arrangements.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is tentatively scheduled to spend three weeks from December 16, 2018 to January 8, 2019 in Bodhgaya and according to the arrangements of the state, His Holiness will be staying at the Tibetan monastery close to the Mahabodhi temple. The state expects that the visit will boost the tourist footfalls in the region as it does during every visit by the Tibetan spiritual leader.

According to the Times of India report, “As per his tentative itinerary released by the public relations department of the state government, the Dalai Lama would attend a two-day seminar being organized by the Thai monastery, besides giving special sermon to a select group of followers. He will also conduct a three-day long general indoctrination programme in the Kalchakra Maidan. Several small programmes have also been chalked out for the Dalai Lama.”

The report also added that a representative official in Bodhgaya has met with the District Magistrate Abhishek Singh on Wednesday to request him to make sure of adequate security arrangements for the upcoming visit by His Holiness the Dalai Lama especially after explosion and recovery of low intensity IEDs on January 19 earlier this during the spiritual leader’s visit to Bodhgaya.
