Following the controversial remarks by former Indian diplomat P. Stobdan, people are calling his attitude unacceptable. People from the Union Territory of Ladakh are demanding the former diplomat for an apology as disrespect of their spiritual leader is unacceptable. A strike has also been called by the merchants across the city of Leh!
During a recent debate on Aaj Tak, a national television news channel in India, Mr. Stobdan accused that His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his exile Tibetan administration is not speaking up on the border dispute between India and China. He rudely remarked that if His Holiness is not aligned with China, he should clarify that the disputed regions belong to India, as a representative of Tibet, instead of just carrying out teachings in Dharamshala.
The statement made by the former diplomat P Stobdan in his recent political debate on a national television has deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of the Ladakh and many organizations have condemned him. The common demand from all the statements is that the disrespect of their spiritual leader on false accusations is unacceptable and the former diplomat must apologize!
The Thiksey and Diskit monasteries in Leh have issued a statement demanding an apology from Phunchok. The Merchant Association of Leh has called for a strike and asked all shops across Leh district to join the strike in solidarity. All Ladakh Gonpa Association, LBA Youth Wing, LBA Women Wing and political leaders have condemned the statement of P Stobdan.
They explained that His Holiness is not only the epitome of peace and ambassador of humanity, but also the most respected spiritual of hundreds of thousands of Buddhists around the world.
