In a press update from the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh revealed that they are planning to hire Chinese and Tibetan language experts to crack Chinese espionage racket trailing to the state. As the state hosts His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the headquarter of Tibetan government in exile, Chinese spies are attracted there.
According to the Tibetan report by the Radio Free Asia, DGP Sanjay Kundu of Himachal Pradesh in a press conference has revealed their plans to hire experts in Chinese and Tibetan Languages to crack the trails of Chinese espionage racket running into the state. The districts of Kangra, Kullu and Shimla are considered the hotspots of the racket.
Charlie Peng was arrested by the IT Department from New Delhi earlier this month for allegedly running money laundering racket with transactions over 1000 crore rupees. Interrogations have found that he was the kingpin of a Chinese espionage racket in India tasked by China to spy upon His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Two associates of the kingpin Charlie Peng identified as Sonam Wangdu and Lan Hoo were arrested by Himachal Police last month. Wangdu, whose identity is not clear yet was reported to be working in Chauntra in the district of Mandi while Lan Hoo is a Chinese national woman living with her daughters in Bir in the district of Kangra. The two suspects have been detained and security agencies are interrogating them now.
These suspected Chinese spy associates have been identified by following financial transactions traced between them and SK Traders (Hawala company) of Charlie Peng. The two have multiples foreign travel histories but no well established income source.
