The Hotels and Restaurants Association in Dharamshala has written an appeal letter to the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama for a possible 2019 Kalachakra teachings in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh of India. The hoteliers are making the point that such a teaching has never been held there.
While the local business people in Dharamshala explain that the small Himalayan town has risen into an international tourist destination with relevant infrastructural developments, they believe a Kalachakra teachings could further increase tourist inflow.
“Thousands of foreigners as well as Indian tourists are visiting Dharamshala on a regular basis during the past so many years. The city has grown up a lot in terms of infrastructure. Dharamshala has also been selected as one of the smart cities of India,” the letter stated according to the report in Business Standard.
“We strongly believe if ‘Kal Chakra’ is hosted here, it will give a tremendous boost to the tourist inflow in the city. We request you to explore the possibility of hosting ‘Kal Chakra’ puja for the year 2019 in Dharamshala,” it added.
The spiritual essence of the teachings by Tibetan Buddhist leaders headed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been one of the main reasons thousands of tourists, mainly Westerners and Asians visiting the Himalayan hill town.
The foreigners visits have been a huge blessing for the tourism business, the business community is now alleging a downward trend of foreigners footfalls due to reduced religious programs from His Holiness the Dalai Lama especially during the winter seasons, affecting their fortunes significantly!
