India Makes Special Provision to Vaccinate the Dalai Lama at His Residence

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be vaccinated at his residence according to the special provisions consideration made by the government of India. With the vaccination drives going on full throttle, the centre has permitted to allow provisions for vaccinating the spiritual leader at his residence along with his core staff.

Central Tibetan Administration or the Tibetan government in exile has earlier written to the government of India to consider special provisions to vaccinated the 85 year old spiritual leader at his residence in McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala. Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been under self quarantine. However, his teachings and public engagements has been continuing virtually.

“We had written to the Government of India and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kangra district about two months back but have not received any response. Our request was for His Holiness (HH) the Dalai Lama, the people living around him, and the Tibetan community in India to be vaccinated,” the Health Secretary of CTA told ANI.

The Kangra Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said that everyone above 60 will be vaccinated and they will make a special provision for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. According to the chief medical officer of the district, Gurdarshan Gupta, permission to vaccinate the spiritual leader and people around him has come and modalities are being worked out vaccinate them.
