Mr. Ngodup Tsering Named As New North America Representative Of Dalai Lama

Mr. Ngodup Tsering is named as the new North America representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama replacing the incumbent former speaker Mr. Penpa Tsering. Central Tibetan Administration’s Kashag made the announcement in their medium of the news this morning while it did not provide any further information.

Mr. Ngodup Tsering is presently taking the charge of Education department in the current cabinet of the Kashag. However, the reshuffle came out as huge surprise to both public as well as the staffs because this comes out just after a little more than one year of appointment of the incumbent North America representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

“The Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration today appointed Education Kalon Ngodup Tsering as the new Representative of North America based in Washington DC. The Kashag has made the appointment today as per Chapter 1 Article 1(3) of the Tibetan Charter and Article 19(1) of the Tibetan Public Service Commission rules and regulations.” said the announcement which also added that the new representative will take charge of the office from December 1st.

With the outbreak of the news, the local media followed the President Dr. Lobsang Sangay as well as Kalon Ngodup Tsering in their offices to collect further details of the reshuffle but in vain. While the secretary of the Kashag Mr. Topgyal Tsering confirmed of the news to the journalists, he said that he does not have any further reasons or details of about it.

It now remains to be seen of what the incumbent representative Mr. Penpa Tsering would be given to take charge of. As of now there are no clarity to whether Mr. Penpa Tsering had appealed for the change or will he be assigned to take charge as the secretary of Dalai Lama trust following the suspension of Ven. Tenzin Dhonden last month.
