COVID-19 Tibetan Infection: 3 Year Old Case Brings toll to 41 in India and Nepal

Following the addition of 17 new cases including a 3 years old among Tibetan refugees in India and Nepal, total number of infection rises to 41. During the weekly update by the Wuhan originated COVID-19 Task Force of Central Tibetan Administration on Thursday, 17 new cases of infection in the Tibetan communities in India and Nepal was report.

Dr. Tsering Tsamchoe, spokesperson of the Task Force during the briefing explained the numbers in detail. Most number of cases has been reported from Ladakh with six new cases while Mundgod Tibetan settlement reported second most number of new cases with 4 new infections. From Ladakh, a three year old kid has been infected.

“Ladakh reports 6 new cases this week which include a 38-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman, a 25-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and 3 years old kid. All of them are currently at the quarantine. In Dekyiling settlement in Dehradun, a 27-year-old woman with mild symptoms tested positive this week. The said person is currently in self-isolation at Doon Hospital. In Delhi, an 82-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have tested positive. Both of them show mild symptoms.” Dr. Tsamchoe said at the press briefing on Thursday.

“In the Bylakuppe Lugsam settlement, a 31-year-old man has tested positive. The person is being quarantined at the zone’s facility. In Tezu, a 25-year-old woman who was tested positive was asymptomatic. In Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, a 19-year-old girl tested positive in Mundgod Tibetan settlement, a 42-year-old woman, 32-year-old- male, 27-year-old- male, and 16-year-old boy tested positive. In Nepal, an 83-year-old man tested positive with mild symptoms and currently he is at the Institution quarantine.” she added.

Now the total  number of identified cases of coronavirus in the Tibetan community in India and Nepal is at 41 out of which 21 are active cases and 18 have recovered. So far, 2 deaths caused by virus infection. There has been  a continued rise in the cases of coronavirus infection in India, till now more than 490K cases of infection have been identified and more than 15K have lost their lives. As for whole world, there are more than 9.6 million confirmed cases with more than 489K deaths.
