Dalai Lama Joins Public Felicitation Of Eight US Politicians Visiting Dharamshala

His Holiness the Dalai Lama joins public felicitation of the high-level US Congressional delegation who visited the Indian town Dharamshala which is the seat of the Central Tibetan Administration in exile. The US congressional delegation led by the US House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi consisted of eight representatives from United States spent two days in the town organized by the Central Tibetan Administration.

“America is a leading nation of free world and plays a pivotal role in the promotion of peace around the world. U.S. Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi has been one of the longest friend and supporter of the Tibetan people, who has stood with us in the most critical of times and situations. I thank all of you today for expressing your genuine support for the Tibetan cause and solidarity for Tibetans inside Tibet,” His Holiness the Dalai Lama said during the event according to the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration.

His Holiness explained that the Tibet supporters are not coming out due to their attachment towards Tibetans as people but due the case of truth that the Tibetan people seek. It is the core of the Tibetan struggle said His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

“My sincere hope is that the future of Tibet and China will move beyond mistrust to a relationship based on mutual respect, trust and recognition of common interests.”

“In our newly emerging global community, all forms of violence, including war, are totally inappropriate means of settling disputes. According to my personal experiences the best way to overcome conflicts is to bring about mutual understanding through dialogue and not violence,” His Holiness added.

The public felicitation witnessed an overwhelming introductory speech by the President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay who besides expressing gratitude to the delegation for visiting His Holiness and the Tibetan administration, he also proposed of a prosperous time when His Holiness would be able to return to Tibet, the Tibetans will invite the same delegation on an unrestricted tour throughout Tibet.

Sikyong also said “…the congressional delegation sends a message of hope, justice and freedom for Tibetans inside Tibet and the world. As you entered the ceremony, you have seen the smiles of the Tibetan children and public, these smiles reflect the smiles of the six million Tibetan people,”.

The representatives during their speeches at the event assured the bipartisan support of US congress on Tibet. “We will never stop until Tibet is free.” said Representative Eliot Engel. Leader Nancy Pelosi also recounted her promise to make sure that they will do everything it takes for them to make it possible for His Holiness the Dalai Lama to return to his palace, The Potala in Lhasa, Tibet during her visit in 2013.
