Dalai Lama Will Spend More Than A Month In Bodh Gaya

Dalai Lama will spend more than a month in Bodh Gaya during his up coming visit to the holy place as per the news updates. His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s updated schedule according to a report in the Telegraph says that he will be arrive in Bodh Gaya on December 26 this year in update against the previous schedule of January 2.

According to the report, His Holiness while in Bodh Gaya will also make visits to Sarnath as well as Pune on December 29 and January 9 respectively. Besides these visits, he is scheduled to spend the entire period in Bodh Gaya till February 12 next year.

“The in-charge of the Tibetan monastery, Bodhgaya, Tenzin Kunchuk alias Amji Lama and Tenjin Lungtok, on Tuesday met Gaya district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi and apprised him of the revised schedule.” said the report in the Telegraph India.

“During the meeting the duo requested the DM for necessary arrangements such as security, venue, cleanliness, power, water and health services.” added the report.

During His Holiness’s stay in the holy city, he is scheduled to give two different public teachings.

His Holiness will give a three-day teaching on Dharmachakra Parivaretan Sutra on The Four Noble Truths (chokyi khorlo korwe do) & Sutra on Dependent Origination (tendrel chi do) in the mornings between January 5 and 7 at the request of Indians.

Then between January 14 and 16, His Holiness will give a three-day teaching on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta (jangchup semdrel) & Gyalsey Thokme Sangpos’s Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (laklen sodunma) in the mornings. On the morning of the third day, the Mongolian Buddhist devotees will offer a long life offering ceremony (tenshug) to His Holiness at the request Lamyn Gegeen Tenzinjamphelchoijisheinen Tulku.

According the organizers request, they have approximated a public gathering of around 40,000 people at the Kalachakra ground where the teachings are being planned.
