Dharamshala Airport Ready to Accept Passengers After Lockdown

Gaggal airport is now ready for operation after almost two months lockdown. Gaggal airport will now accept passengers from today after the aviation sector in India begins operation in a staggered manner. The district administration announced its preparedness to safely manage daily operation of the airport on Sunday.

Gaggal airport, the only airport in district Kangra, is well known for international tourist desitination, Dharamshala, just 15 KM away. It is now set to operate from today with daily flights from New Delhi. There will be two Air India and one Spice Jet flights connecting Delhi-Dharamsala and one Air India flight would shuttle between Dharamsala and Chandigarh, daily from Monday.

The District Commissioner said that all arrangements required to accept passengers from New Delhi and Chandigarh at the Gaggal airport. Medical teams has been deployed to screen passengers. According the DC, symptomatic passengers will immediately be taken for sampling while asymptomatic passengers will be kept under institutional quarantine.

With growing number new cases of infection in India, most of the states are reluctantly opening their airports for limited operations from today. There are guidelines from Aviation ministry as well as additional instructions from respective state authorities for the flyers. With an effort to minimize personal contacts, the flying experience will be a totally new one.

Coronavirus that originated from Wuhan city of China, brought the world to a halt. There are lockdowns implemented in most countries leading to a complete stop of international flights. The pandemic has now infected more than 5.4 million people across the world. It has claimed more than 345K human lives and overwhelmed the health systems in most of the countries.
