Meghan Wished for A Dalai Lama Blessing at her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry

The royal wedding of Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle that took place in May last year had actually different plans. According to the breaking reports, the bride wished for a the blessing from His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the royal wedding. The exiled spiritual leader who is a Tibetan Buddhist based in India.

Although it is not very clear of who actually proposed inviting His Holiness the Dalai Lama to deliver a sermon at the royal wedding at the St. Georges Chapel, the idea was eventually dropped since he was not a Christian. Justin Welby recommended Duchess of Sussex to choose American bishop Michael Curry in place of her initial plans of inviting the Dalai Lama for the event.

“The Duchess of Sussex married Prince Harry on May, 19 2018 in St George’s Chapel in Windsor. The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby conducted the service but he also advised Meghan on whether to invite one particular guest, according to The Daily Mail. Meghan is said to have been considering asking the Dalai Lama to give a sermon at the wedding.” said the report in Express.uk.

Some reports event suggested that Prince Charles, a friend of the Tibetan spiritual leader, to have recommended inviting the Dalai Lama. Although it is not clear whether His Holiness the Dalai Lama would have been able to attend the royal wedding, considering his advanced age and reduced overseas engagements, Meghan Markle has long been following His Holiness’s teachings according the reports.
